Free Weekly Meal Planning Download

meal-planningAfter a quick perusal of our budget, it was obvious that a big expense that we had that we could save money on was food.  With both of us working with long commutes, it was often easier to just go out to eat every night.  This was especially made easier by the fact that we lived in San Gabriel Valley where there was an overabundance of cheap and good asian food.  But of course over time, this expense started to add up.  Plus, eating out is not as healthy as cooking your own meals at home.  The hard part for me about cooking though was going grocery shopping and having planned meals with recipes.  You really need to be organized and plan out your grocery shopping so that you only have to go once a week to make it efficient.  So the first part of getting organized is coming up with a weekly meal plan.  You can download a simple template with grocery shopping list that I made on excel by clicking below:

Broiled Pineapple Mahi Mahi Recipe

photo 1So I decided to make this for dinner last night and it was a really healthy meal.  It’s a great tropical themed dish that is relatively fast and easy to make.  It helped that the mahi mahi was on sale too.  This pairs well with a Caesar salad.  Hope you enjoy the recipe!

Printable Grocery Store Coupons

couponSo reading all these articles on extreme couponing has gotten me excited to save money using coupons.  As a little girl, I remember my mom clipping coupons from the Sunday paper and how she got awesome deals.  With the combination of sales with double coupons, she would get items for close to free.  I have to admit that I’m not quite at that dedicated of a stage yet so I don’t have a subscription to the Sunday paper.  But nowadays in this modern day and age, there’s almost no need for that.  A lot of stores have their own website now where you can print out the coupons you need.  I’ve compiled that list of printable store coupons websites below for ease of use.  Some of these stores allow you to save your coupons onto your store rewards card or mobile app so you don’t even need to print out the coupons.
